If U Care Share Foundation announces partnership with Tesco Bank in Newcastle

Today (1 March 2016) If U Care Share Foundation announced that it has been selected by Tesco Bank’s employees in Newcastle to be their official charity partner for 2016/17. The charity promotes emotional wellbeing in young people and supports families affected by suicide.

Tesco Bank supports a different local children’s charity every year. Their employees were recently asked to nominate a new charity for the coming year and the Bank received almost 150 nominations across all its offices. Colleagues were given the opportunity to vote, with If U Care Share Foundation coming out top in Newcastle.

The Bank aims to raise £15,000 through a range of initiatives to enable the charity to expand outside of Durham, targeting schools across the North East, providing EAMH (Emotional and Mental Health) workshops for a school, which would be delivered to up to 2,000 pupils, over the course of one year.

In addition, If U Care Share Foundation will benefit from the Bank’s ‘Take a Day to Make a Difference’ when employees are encouraged to take time away from the business to volunteer for good causes.

Sandra Emery, Operations Manager at If U Care Share Foundation, said:

“We were absolutely delighted to be chosen as Tesco Bank’s charity of the year for its Newcastle office. The fundraising will allow us to give children in the North East to benefit from support in dealing with emotional health issues and, most importantly, let them know where they can turn to at a time of need.”

Tesco Bank community engagement manager Suzanne Laporte said:

“Our employees are passionate about supporting their local communities. Over the last five years they’ve help raise £1.55million for charities and volunteered more than 23,000 hours helping local charities, schools and community groups. They voted overwhelmingly to support If U Care Share Foundation as they want to help the charity meet its three aims: prevention, intervention and support of those bereaved by suicide. We’ve already started planning our first fundraising event and are keen to start volunteering with the charity to provide that extra support they wouldn’t normally receive.”
